Legacy Systems
According to Moore’s Law, the development of technology is exponential rather than linear. One effect of this trend is that modern mobile phones and hand held devices are now able to do what Windows and Mac computer used to do. Another is that companies end up using legacy equipment that is too valuable to throw away.
Avco prides itself on its ability to adapt to advances in technology, by keeping abreast of the languages and protocols used in hand held devices and by retaining the ability to support and maintain legacy systems.
Any system, service or application that is more than five years old can loosely be defined as a legacy system. Companies can find that they have legacy systems that work, but that cannot be enhanced or rewritten, because the I.T. personnel who created and supported them have moved on.
Avco has proven to be adept at looking into legacy systems and either improving them, or extracting the key elements and rewriting them from scratch in a modern development environment.
We pride ourselves on our ability to support both modern and legacy systems, enabling dissimilar hardware to exchange data transparently. Using the latest technology and combining modern development tools with popular packaged software, we provide flexible and future-proof solutions for cross platform operation.
We’ve been in the business since 1986 and we hope to be supporting legacy systems for a long time to come.
