King's College Case Study

At a glance

Founded in 1880, King's College is an independent school of 420 pupils aged 13 to 18, including about 300 boarders. For automated exam data transfer, the school relies on Avco’s Exam Centre application. The software provides secure, timely and dependable examination information transfers to and from the exam boards, leaving staff to focus their attention on teaching and developing constructive extracurricular activities for their students.

The Problem

As an exam centre, King’s College needed an EDI application to exchange data with the examination boards. The solution had to work with any MIS package, and had to reliably transfer the files to and from the respective exam board.

The Approach

Developed and launched in 1999, Avco’s Exam Centre utility works with any MIS package. Supported by the main JCQ members – AQA, CCEA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC – the utility, powered by AnyComms, transfers data with a single click. The school can send exam data and receive basedata and results files in one simple operation.

The Result

The school now has effective and secure end-to-end file transfer capability for critical data transfers to and from the exam boards. On-demand and scheduled data exchange ensures files can be delivered to deadline every time.
