Case Study: Computer Economics

CELRE wanted to offer an on-line job pricing service for all surveys through a secure portion of its web-site. Authorised subscribers would be able to enter a user-name and password-protected area and set up their own bespoke queries to obtain salary data for organisations meeting their own specific criteria. This was regarded as a valuable service supplementing the printed survey reports that could only contain a restricted number of predefined analyses.

Among other services provided, AVCO were responsible for full design and implementation of an interactive job-pricing service driven from an SQL Server database for each survey which in turn is fed by a legacy INGRES database. Access permission templates can be set up and changed remotely by CELRE. Each user can, if required, save their own custom queries to run against new survey data as it becomes available.
