Case Study: Experian Automotive

Experian's Automotive division were looking to provide their customers with a batch vehicle processing service for their market-leading provenance product, Car Data Check, giving clients secure access to their comprehensive database of over 90 million vehicle records. The new service enabled users to submit queries via a web front-end and/or a handheld device, for batches of up to 5,000 vehicles. The numerous fields returned from the database include make, model, engine capacity, date of manufacture, financial interest recorded against the vehicle, theft markers and insurance write-offs. This data has been derived from sources which include the DVLA, the Police and insurance companies.

The system receives incoming requests from clients and extracts the necessary information from Experian's central mainframe using a proprietary link. The matching results are then mapped to the customer's chosen output profile containing the relevant data fields and made available for download through the web-site, in the form of worksheets and/or portable documents.

By using its rapid development tools AVCO was able to provide Experian with a solution in a very short period of time. The system has been a great success and now processes over one million vehicles per annum.
