January 2026 marks the 40 year anniversary of Avco Systems Ltd, incorporated in January 1986.

Established at the Brunel University Science Park in 1986, we’ve grown from a single entrepreneurial programmer to a team of over 50 - delivering trusted software platforms for organisations across the UK. Over these four decades, we’ve witnessed the evolution of software development, embracing new technologies while staying true to our core values: quality, agility, and a personal approach to every project.

Our Journey

Avco Systems Limited (2000-2010)

The first projects delivered by Avco Systems in the late 80s and early 90s were focused on data collection, distribution and automation, connecting enterprise systems during the dawn of the World Wide Web. Early notable customers included HSBC, Barclays, and the MoD.

In the mid-90s we launched our first branded product – AnyComms – a data transfer solution that quickly became a success with local authorities, particularly in the education sector. In 1995 AnyComms was licensed by Experian, and our partnership with them continues to this day. AnyComms was later superseded by AnyComms Plus which is a market-leading secure transfer platform for local authorities.

The new millennium brought significant growth and a pivot toward software consultancy and bespoke development. We have delivered hundreds of web applications, mobile applications, IoT devices, data processing solutions, and more (see our Case Studies). During this time, we also achieved ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications, reinforcing our commitment to security and quality.

Today Avco Systems has three core pillars:

• Data Transfer and Security products. AnyComms Plus, SFX, Avco Education Services, and Authinity build on our legacy of robust data transfer and data security solutions.
• Software Engineering & Consulting. Organisations of all types and sizes, from startups to FTSE100 companies and government bodies, all leverage our expert team for their software projects.
• Managed platform hosting & maintenance. We keep critical systems ticking and provide an unrivalled service and peace of mind for our clients.

Our Greatest Asset: The Avco Team

Avco Systems wouldn’t be in business today if not for our incredible team of people. We are a family-owned business that believes in the power of individuals and the strong relationships they build with our customers. We encourage everyone in the team to push themselves (and Avco!) to grow, develop and thrive. Many of our team members have been with us for 10, 20, or even 30 years, and their dedication and commitment has shaped Avco into what it is today.

We also partner with UK universities to offer industrial placements, welcoming multiple students and graduates every year into the business. In fact, our current director – Pete Lambert – joined the business through such a programme over 20 years ago.
